How to Find Home-Based Work With Flexible Hours

7 Minute Read

If you’re interested in a work-from-home role with a flexible schedule, but you’re afraid every job advertised is a scam, you aren’t alone. The truth is, it might be difficult to find a good remote job that offers flexible hours and days. But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.

Great remote jobs are out there, and this blog post is here to help you find them.

So, You Want a Flexible Schedule?

If you asked why people want to work from home, many would say it’s because they want the flexiblity in their schedules. Simply put, the 9-to-5 routine does not work for a lot of people anymore.

Working from home offers this flexibility, so if your child gets sick one day or you have an errand to run, you can work around those events and still get the job done. This makes remote jobs true life-savers for many people, which is yet another reason why working at home is so appealing to many.

Workers already know that having a flexible work schedule benefits them. What many people don’t know is that this type of arrangement also benefits companies. If you’re trying to score a more flexible schedule, you might already know:

  • Workers are more motivated and more productive.
  • The retention rate is higher because workers are happier.
  • Remote work is more eco-friendly.

That being said, if you want a remote job because you want a flexible schedule, it’s good to keep in mind that almost half — 44% to be exact — of companies across the globe don’t allow any type of remote work. Does that mean it’s impossible to find these types of jobs? Not really, but you have to know where to look.

People are much happier working from home at least part of the time, mainly due to flexibility.

Before we get to that, let’s look at other statistics related to companies that allow workers to work at least part of the time from home.

  • In the United States, 4.3 million people now work from home at least half the time.
  • 67% of small businesses now allow some type of flexible work schedules for their workers.
  • Roughly 90% of these companies state their retention rates have greatly improved due to offering a flexible work schedule.
  • The number of remote workers has gone up 140% since 2005.
  • Many experts estimate that nearly one-fourth of the workforce could be working remotely by the year 2025.
  • Globally, 16% of all companies have a team of workers that is 100% remote.

As you would expect, people are much happier working from home at least part of the time, mainly due to flexibility. In a recent survey, workers who telecommuted were 22% happier than those who worked in an onsite office.
