Is Your Work Experience Real or Artificial? Inappropriate Use of AI Can Derail Your Job Application

Updated on: October 20, 2025

Applying for a job—virtual or in person—can be daunting these days. HR algorithms eliminate applicants early in the process, long before they ever talk with a hiring manager.

So, it’s understandable why jobseekers turn to artificial intelligence (AI) when applying for work. Maybe, just maybe, it might give them a tech-enabled edge over other applicants.

Gain an “AI in” upfront, right?

Same Answer As Others – Not Good

As tempting as that might be, please resist. Because an inappropriate use of AI most probably will eliminate you from consideration. And sadly, you won’t be alone.

In fact, dozens of applicants make that mistake—giving the same AI-generated answer to the same job-related question. Word for word, down to the exact comma and period. Our talent team sees this misstep occur day after day in screening candidates.

That’s not good. And here’s why, especially for customer-experience (CX) positions.

Your Thoughts – Not a Machine’s

At Working Solutions, we want to see your critical thinking. Know your heartfelt feelings. For client programs, application questions are worded to solicit personal replies and firsthand insights. As extensions of clients’ brands, agents need to be real, not artificial.

Thoughtful, empathetic answers are required to first get the job—and then do it right. We’re not looking for ChatGPT rote responses. The work here calls for having the heart of a customer, not the soul of a machine.

While artificial intelligence can help with job searches, it shouldn’t be relied on to answer CX job openings. We want your personal best—not an AI version of you.

Purpose of the Job-Application Process

Applying for a customer-service job at Working Solutions involves a number of important steps. Each one has a specific purpose toward finding the best fit for our clients’ openings.

While not required, you should submit a resume. That’s because we want to know about your past work experience, especially in the industries we serve, such as healthcare, retail or travel.

Shine Professionally

Then, we’ll ask questions that delve deeper into your particular expertise, such as sales, customer service or tech support. This is a place for you to shine professionally.

Most answers should be straightforward, like facts and figures, Others, however, are more nuanced. They require personal replies—ones that won’t work with ChatGPT responses.

All questions are asked to determine the most-appropriate client program to match your talent and ensure success.

No One “Right” Answer

The whole point of the application process is learning about you—your skills, how they benefit clients and how well you would fit into our PRO agent community.

Now, ChatGPT might fabricate a “right” answer, but truth be told, there is no one correct answer to each of our questions. Your responses—not a chatbot’s—tell us volumes about why you will succeed (or not) in our virtual, work-from-home world.

So please, be real.
